Knox Library Closed Nov 11 - Dec 10

New gizmos and a lick of paint! It's all happening at Knox Library - which will be closed from Sunday 1th November at 4pm and will be re-opening on Monday 10th December at 10am.

So what exactly is going on? A new Smart Returns 5-bin sorting system is being installed to help with the heavy returns workflow at Knox Library. Those of you who are familiar with Croydon Library will have seen a similar returns system over there. New tech in the branches is always exciting for us, especially for staff. Not only do we love having new toys to play with and equipment that is seen in leading library services, but it also means a reduction in repetitive wrist-strain injuries for our staff.

But there are benefits for our patrons, too. By returning items through the new system,  you will be able to see them being crossed off your card as they go through (Nice! It's always good to know they are done) and subsequently your account will be completely up to date when you use the Venus Checkout stands to borrow your books or visit the Customer Service counter.

Whilst we are closed, we've arranged the following details.

Extended Loan Period: Members borrowing at Knox Library in the month prior to the closure will receive an extended loan period

No holds on Knox items: From the 22nd October Knox Library stock will not be available for holds

No Knox Pickup: From the 22nd October Knox Library will not be available as a pickup branch in the catalogue

Holds transfer: Knox members with holds that are likely to arrive during the closed period should arrange to have their holds transferred to another branch or suspended

Bookchute: The bookchute will be closed, so items should be returned to other Eastern Regional Libraries branches

Internet/WiFi: Internet, WiFi and photocopying will not be available at Knox Library during the closed period

In the meantime, pencil in that re-opening date and if you have questions or concerns  - please don't hesitate to call any of our branches on 1300 737 277.

Mooroolbark won't be available as a pickup branch for holds due to refurbishment

From Thursday this week Mooroolbark Library will not be available as a pickup branch for holds due to the closure in August for the refurbishment.

Please select an alternate library - list of library branches. Mooroolbark members with current holds may also wish to arrange to have their holds transferred to another branch on their next visit.

Mooroolbark Library will be closed for refurbishment in August

Monday 1st August 2011 - reopening Monday 22nd August 2011

Mooroolbark Library will be closed for refurbishment from Monday 1st August for three weeks reopening Monday 22nd August.

Work to be undertaken includes reshelving of the library, installation of RFID security gates and the construction of a new circulation desk area.

New water-saving toilets being installed at Boronia Library

Knox Council are replacing the public toilets with new water-saving cisterns and new vanities in Boronia Library. In addition they are replacing the old kitchen in the staff workroom area and staff toilets facilities and doing some resurfacing at the entrance.

Boronia Library will re-open on Monday 14th February. The bookchute is open for returns during the closure.

Yarra Junction Library is closed for refurbishment

Just a reminder that Yarra Junction library is closed for refurbishment from Monday 1st March and will re-open on Tuesday 6th April at 10am. Library services will be available via the the Ranges Mobile Library at the rear of Yarra Junction library on the following days: Monday 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th March
10:30am-1pm.

The bookchute will remain open. You may also return items to any other branch of Eastern Regional Libraries.

I'll organise a Flickr account for them and advertise it here on the blog so everyone can stay updated with the refurbishment progress.

Yarra Junction Library closed for refurbishment

Yarra Junction Library will close for refurbishment from Monday 1st March. The Library will re-open on Tuesday 6th April at 10am.

Library services will be available via the the Ranges Mobile Library at the rear of Yarra Junction library on the following days:

Monday 1st, 15th, 22nd, 29th March
10:30am-1pm

The bookchute will remain open. You may also return items to any other branch of Eastern Regional Libraries.

Rowville open, Lilydale closed

Well it's all happening today. Rowville Library has just opened after their refurbishment. You can check out the latest refurbishment pics I've uploaded to their Flickr account.

Also Lilydale Library are now closed for their small refurbishment. Mostly what they'll be doing is taking down the old lime green shelving and replacing it with Rowville's old blue shelving.

Lilydale will be closed from 4pm Sunday 19th July, reopening at 10am Monday 10th August. The bookchute will be open for returns during this period.

Lilydale Library refurbishment

I've just found out that Lilydale Library will be closed for refurbishment from 4pm Sunday 19th July, re-opening 10am Monday 10th August. They will be putting up the nice blue shelving inherited from Rowville Library.

The bookchute will be open for returns during this period. You can borrow items from any of our branches, the closest libraries would be Mooroolbark, Montrose, Mt Evelyn and Croydon. View our library branches. Renewals can be done over the phone on 1300 737 277 (speak to staff at any library) or if you have your PIN, via the web catalogue.

Mt Evelyn & Rowville Libraries' refurbishment

Sorry I was a bit incommunicado last week, was off sick for a few days. Slowly catching up with everything and that includes the Mt Evelyn and Rowville refurbishments.

Mt Evelyn Library re-opened today to lots of members with lovely positive comments about the recent refurbishment. They said it was more open but still retained the lovely feel it always had. I've uploaded the latest photos sent to me of the library. You can check them out at Mt Evelyn's Flick site.

Rowville Library has now closed for it's refurbishment and will be re-opening Monday 20th July. I will be starting a Flickr account for them as well and will edit this post as soon as I have the address.

Rowville Library will be closing for refurbishment from 4pm Sunday 21st June and will re-open on Monday 20th July at 10am. Please note: these dates will be subject to Centre Management approval.

Mt Evelyn Library will be closed for refurbishment from Friday 22nd May 5:30pm, reopening Monday 22nd June.

During this period the bookchute will be closed. Items may be returned to any of our branches or renewed online if you know your PIN or via the phone at 1300 737 277. You'll find that the normal loan period at Mt Evelyn Library has been extended so the items are due once the library is open.

As with our other refurbishments I'll be setting up a Flickr account to display the photos on the Reading in the Ranges and What's New @ your library blogs.
