Rocking Out at Lilydale Festival - African Drums get the Thumbs Up

Showbags! Lots of give-aways at the
ERL tent at the Lilydale Show
What can we say - Eastern Regional Libraries loves a festival and the Lilydale Festival was no exception. Held at the Lilydale Recreation Reserve, there was a great selection of agricultural and horticultural displays and marquees with the festival enjoying some beautiful weather and a fantastic turnout.

Lilydale library staff were also at the festival this year, with the number of visitors to the ERL tent keeping staff well and truly run off their feet. Rowanne, a staff member from Lilydale library,  had this say; "We were flat out and completely exhausted by the end, but it was well worth it. It was great to see so many people stopping by to see us." Yes, we agree - it's always nice to know we're loved!

One of the major highlights of the festival was the African Drumming Workshop organised by ERL Lilydale Crew at the main marquee. Sessions for the this rhythmic gathering led by the charismatic and talented Koffi were completely booked out - we ran out of chairs. Children, parents and grandparents were all delighted by the musical instruction and it is no doubt they left with a bit of pep in their step by the end of it. The workshop proved so popular, ERL is looking forward to seeing Koffi again for more workshops in the future - so watch this space.

Overall, it was a fantastic day. Thank you to all the people who visited the ERL Library Crew at their display tent and participated in the African Drumming Workshop - we look forward to seeing you all next year.
