Report regarding proposed changes to opening hours at Knox libraries

I have an update regarding the proposed changes to opening hours at our Knox libraries:

Knox Council was very pleased by the response by the community and has tabled these submissions in a new report for consideration by Knox Council. The new report will be considered by Knox Council on 8th June 2010. Feedback will be given to ERLC and the community after that date.

I will advise members of the outcome via this blog and we'll also have notices in our libraries.

Cheers, Maryanne

Not many library users are aware regarding about the proposed changes of opening hours at the Knox Library. This information should be brought forward at the Knox library to let the users aware especially those who uses the library from 6-8 pm to bring their thoughts forward on these changes.

As from my point of view, library is where users do their study, research, discussion on school work, reading and promote healthy lifestyle. It helps our country to progress Australians' intelligentual.

I suggest that the opening hours should remain unchange.
Due to
1) It is the most convenient hours for full time workers who study part time, users who wanted a healthy night lifesytle of reading at libary, users can't study or work at home, and students who wanted to used the library after schooling and wanted to do assignment or study for exam.
2) The Australia population is increasing hence the library users are increasing.
3) We should encourage people to use the library and not to discourage like Glen Waverley library previously extend their opening hours.
4) This is disadvantage for the Knox or Wantirna community. If the opening hours reduced it is very inconvenient, as the Knox or Wantirna users need to go all the way to Glen Waverley Library which open from 10am till 9.00pm.
5) We should encourage Knox/Wantirna children to study and get a good score in their education.

Please reconsider and don't reduce the Knox library opening hours.

Sincerely,
Li
