New design for What's new @ your library & Reader's Corner Reviews blogs

You may have noticed that I've been tweaking the design for the What's new @ your library and Reader's Corner Reviews blogs. This is so that it matches the design for the new website I've been working on.

I hope to have some screenshots of the new site for you next week.

Subscribe to this blog via email, it's easy

Have you subscribed by email to What's New @ your library yet? It's an easy way to subscribe to the blog without having an account at a news aggregator site such as Bloglines or Newsgator.

All you need to do is:

1. Click on the Get updates via email link in the sidebar at the right of this blog.
2. Enter your email address and fill in the letters you see displayed in the box below it (it's done to prevent spam)
3. Click the complete subscription request button.

If I post any articles to the blog you'll get an update sent overnight to your email. Here's an example of the email update I got sent last night. Click to enlarge.

Blog makeover

If you think you've surfed onto the wrong blog, well no you haven't. I thought I'd give the blog a makeover for the new year. Apart from some of the cosmetic changes I've moved the Top 10 Reads so that it always appears at the top of the blog. I've also added a Share button, free from AddThis.com. You can click the button to share the post with people via email, or through social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and del.icio.us.

Side menu

I've changed a few of the groupings in the menu to the right. Links to the library website and blog help can now be found under About me. There are several new groupings:

Readers & writers contains most of the library links for avid readers and a link to the storywriting competition as well as a link to the new titles in the catalogue. Newsletters contains links to our online newsletters with information on subscription. The Contact group contains links to Ask a Librarian and the library contact form. We still have links to our activity programs and the Top 10 reads for the month.

Checkout the new layout

Hey everyone.....Don't think you've stumbled on the wrong blog, we've got a new layout. I wanted to test out some of the new features offered by Blogger so I needed to make some changes. What do you think?

Some things to notice:

• Top 10 Reads

Now situated on the menu bar at the right. I think I'll post these here each month rather than do an article.

• From the web to you

This is part of Google Reader. I'll be sharing some feeds for great blog articles etc through this section. At the moment there are articles about books and food. What else are you interested in?

I'll add some more things a bit later and upload the quick links for feeds etc that seem to have been wiped in the change.

So, here's your big chance to give me some feedback. What would you like to see on the blog?
