Library staff member Lesley Conway runs a radio show each Wednesday 12:05pm-12:45pm on Eastern FM 99.1 called The Eastern Regional Library Show. Tune in this Wednesday for a great show.
On last week's show
New resources for family history research are coming in all the time, and today Kathy brought us up to date with some of the most recent. New CD-ROMS, which are loaded on the genealogy computer at Ringwood Library, include Victorian Mining Accident Index (covering mining accidents in the late 1800's), Commonwealth Electoral Rolls (Queensland) for 1913 and 1922, New Zealand Electoral Roll for 1881 and 1893, and New Zealand Marriages 1836-1956.
Don't forget the Military History Group is taking place on May 25th at Croydon Library from 2pm-4pm which is free of charge, and Family History on the Internet training which will be running on Thursday the 14th of June and Thursday 12th July from 10am to 12pm at Croydon Library, cost $30.
For enthusiasts in the eastern suburbs, Kathy told us of the AIGS (Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies) Outer Eastern group which meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the U3A complex at Fairpark Reserve in Ferntree Gully. If you would like to take part in this program, which includes topics such as Tracing the history of your house and Preparing for your visits to the State Library of Victoria and the Public Records Office, contact Avril on 97581203.
Apologies for the tardiness of this post. For those that would be interested in listening to a podcast of these shows we are in the process of organising this and hope to have podcasts available in the coming weeks.
Cheers, Maryanne
