A tall ship and a star to sail her by…
Hills resident Ian Watkins is a proud deckhand, committee member and sometime pirate on the square-rigged two-masted schooner Enterprize, a newly-built replica of the ship that brought the first settlers to Melbourne in 1835.
The Enterprize can often be seen plying the waters of Port Phillip Bay and the south-east coast of Australia.
From keel laying to launch took six years of dedication by craftsmen assisted by teams of volunteers.
Ian will share his love affair with the Enterprize: its important heritage and meticulous construction in an evening of tall stories and stunning photography.

In her career as a journalist Caroline Overington won two Walkley Awards for Investigative Journalism and the Keith Murdoch Award for Journalistic Excellence.
She is the author two nonfiction books Only in New York and Kickback which won the Blake Dawson Prize for Business Literature.
In 2009 Caroline wrote her first work of fiction Ghost Child and followed it in 2010 with I Came to Say Goodbye. Both books were critically acclaimed. Matilda is Missing, Caroline’s third novel, will be published in October 2011.
Caroline comes to us today as part of Get Reading, a federal government sponsored initiative. Please join us for a most interesting lunch.
